Rev. Lisa Williamson, MD

Lisa Williamson MD MPH  is an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She is the current pastor of Calvary Fellowship A.M.E. Church in Brooklyn, NY, becoming its first female pastor in the church’s 88th year history.

Rev. Williamson was a solo practicing pediatrician for 18 years, serving the Southeast Queens, NY community where she grew up. As a pediatrician, Rev. Williamson specialized in the care of children in the NYC foster care system., and teenage mothers with infants. She worked closely with the Administration for Children’s Services, advocating for the rights of disenfranchised youth. Rev. Williamson is currently a Program Manager for the Women’s Opportunity Rehabilitation Center, which is an alternative to incarceration program for women and youth. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Rev. Williamson was a supervisor for the NYC contact tracing program, providing triage and care for millions impacted by the disease.

Rev. Williamson is focused on non-profit management having acquired over $7.5 million in grant and foundation funding for several non-profit entities. Rev. Williamson serves as the Self Care instructor at the NY Annual Conference Ministerial Institute. Rev. Williamson has over 25 years of experience working with vulnerable populations, justice involved individuals, and communities impacted by poverty, violence, and poor access to quality healthcare.

Rev. Williamson obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cornell University, a Master of Public Health from New York University, a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, a Master of Divinity Degree from New Brunswick Theological Seminary, and a Master of Sacred Theology from Drew University. Rev. Williamson is certified in cognitive behavioral intervention, trauma response care, grant writing and management, and mental health first aid. Rev. Williamson is the proud mother of two adult children and her guiding scripture is from Dr. Luke 12:48b, “To whom much is given, much will be required and to whom much is entrusted, much more will be demanded.”
